May
7 May (Saturday)—British forces training day at Saratoga National Historical Park, Stillwater, NY. This is a small, living history only event. Military kit: 1776 campaign uniforms (cocked hats).
14 May (Saturday)—Mabee Farm Historic Site, Rotterdam Junction, NY. This small historical site is home to one of the oldest houses in the Mohawk Valley. Once again the rebellion is revolting, and its up to us to suppress them. Members are welcome to attend this event both days. Military kit: 1776 campaign uniforms (cocked hats).
June
11 June (Saturday)—Market Faire Days at Johnson Hall State Historic Site, Johnstown, NY. This small event is held at the beautiful 1762 home of Sir William Johnson, Bt. A civilian-focused event, sutlers will be selling wares and performing 18th-century trade and craft demonstrations. Members are welcome to attend this event both days.
July
9-10 July—Battle of Hubbardton, Hubbardton State Historic Site, Hubbardton, VT. The annual anniversary of the Battle of Hubbardton, this is one in which the flank companies of the 62nd Regiment fought on 7 July 1777. Set in the beautiful Green Mountains, this event promises to have us completely outnumbered...but victorious! All members are welcome to stay at the Schnitzer house Friday night and carpool out in force early Saturday morning. Military kit: 1777 campaign uniforms (horsehair caps).
16-17 July—Wyoming Valley Massacre, Mount Cobb, PA (near Scranton). In commemoration of the decisive 1778 victory of British forces over Continental and militia troops, this British Brigade / Continental Line event will be the big one of the year. This large national reenactment event means that we need to have a large regimental turnout! Friday arrival to the site is recommended. Military kits: 1777 campaign uniforms (horsehair caps).
August
September
10-11 September—Battle of Fort Ticonderoga, Ticonderoga, NY. This annual anniversary event is in commemoration of the 18 September 1777 British defense of the Fort's outerworks as it fell under assault by rebel militia. Set at one of the countries greatest 18th-century military forts in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains, this event promises to be better than ever! Military kit: 1776 campaign uniforms (cocked hats).
17-18 September—Battle of Freeman's Farm, Saratoga National Historical Park, NY. This event is in commemoration of the 19 September 1777 Battle of Freeman's Farm, the 62nd Regiment's most important 18th-century battle. Although victorious, the regiment suffered unparalleled losses—nearly 160 officers and men killed, wounded, or captured. This is a living history only event (no battle), and promises a sizeable visit by the public. Military kit: 1777 campaign uniforms (horsehair caps).
17-18 September (same weekend as above)—New Hampshire Highland Games, Loon Mountain, Lincoln, NH. This promises to be an enjoyable weekend as well, and provides a natural opportunity to explain that our English regiment was in fact composed of people from not only England, but Scotland, Wales, and Ireland as well (and even Germany). October
8 October (Saturday)—Stone Fort Days, Old Stone Fort Museum, Schoharie, NY. Our last event of the year, this Battle reenactment of a 1780 skirmish takes place in the incredibly beautiful Schoharie Valley during the peak of fall color. The 1772 Old Stone Fort museum complex houses an incredible collection of 18th-19 century artifacts. As always, this event promises to be a lot of fun...and we will be outnumbered.
